Lots of home made parts including 6 Pop Star puppets for sale this week as one item.
This is a set of four Pop Singers made at the Pelham Puppet factory 1960's as a special order for the employees own use, it is believed.
This band looks to be made from most Pelham parts apart from the moulded heads and shoes which are not the usual Pelham type of toggle feet.
The bodies, hands and legs etc are Pelham, the hands composition.
The heads are not the usual Pelham heads and are presumed to be one off specials and never were in production.
Three Pop Singers are in good condition. The Sax player has a chipped finger and the saxophone has a repair. The strings to the sax player are not how they should be for the instrument to be taken to the mouth. There are also two knots to the leg strings.
The costumes are well executed with no damage, all make a matching set, with little knitted jumpers and suits to match. The suits all have fine detail.
Two have a guitar, the guitars look sturdy and well made.
One has a saxophone, like the original instrument but painted differently and has a repair.
The last one is the drummer who holds drumsticks, the sticky black tape at the end is a little loose.
The opening mouths don't have strings to make them operate, oddly, but maybe this could be done. The puppets are strung with nylon thread and onto a non Pelham control as seen.
The strings could be altered if preferred.
The home made drum kit is well made, the two small drums have no place to stand.
The microphones are very nicely made, please see all images.
There is a seat covered in fake fur for the drummer but this and the two smaller drums would have been standing on a stage with purposed holes in it. The drummer has a screw eye on the lower back to help him sit on the stool I think!
The two risers are made from wood covered with vinyl.
There are two large studio sets with wires which worked originally as I have seen old images with the lights working. The chairs of these are damaged, one of them has lost the foam cover and is broken at the bottom.
They weigh heavy being made from wood.
There is also a small wooden control set with lights and wires.
I am adding to the set two female puppets which are unstrung and have crude costumes. The hands are not Pelham type, the bodies and legs are unpainted parts from Pelham, the shoes and boots are non Pelham.
One singer carries a microphone and the other should sit at the harp!
The entire set is not original Pelham but clearly made as a one off set using Pelham parts.
