TYPE SS PIRATE MAN SOLD
£0.00
Type SS Pirate Man late 1940's. I believe this is the rare first version SS Pirate Man before the one with eye patch and devilish smile and headscarf. SS Pirate is rare and the Pirate Girl even rarer probably. He has a large felt hat with printed pattern on the top, the hat is in good condition. He wears a felt waistcoat with minor damage and he wears dirty/aged patterned cotton trousers and shirt. The boots are the ones used for this character and also the SS Russian characters. He has drop lead hands with paint loss. The skull and cross bones emblem on the hat is a print of a Pirate if you look closely with a peg leg. This puppet is on this website with paint loss on the nose, since this photo it has had some paint to cover up the loss. There is also a similar one in the books written by Paul Coleman A Photographic Guide Volume 2 on page 60 showing the early versions of SS Pirate Man with no scabbard or sash with a large felt hat like this one. Box is unstamped and in the usual shelf worn condition with a blue leaflet enclosed.
