Type SM King late 1940's/early 1950's with a colourful costume. He has large lead hands. He has very good face paintwork. The black and white painted shoes are worn, this style of painting was on the early versions. The hair is a little aged. This character can be sometimes be seen with facial hair but there is no evidence of scuffs in paintwork where any would have been. He has a damaged old felt tongue. He has a good card and wood crown, earlier versions sometimes had a wooden ball on the top. The pretty waistcoat is good, the jacket has some holes on one sleeve near the shoulder, these don't show on display. Screw eyes on control are rusted. Box is stamped SM Clown so has been mixed up at some time. Puppet has come from original owner in a small collection.
