Type SL Duchess the sought after character from the Alice in Wonderland range of 11 puppets. This fabric of the cape seems to be a popular choice for duchess.

She has come to the shop from her original owners family.

The puppet is a stunning character and is dressed with long thick cotton bloomers, these have two bands of lace at the hems. She has a petticoat skirt with lace trim and the short fabric skirt underneath her dress! These are all very good, even the lace which is crumpled is very good condition.

The gown has some very minor wear at the bodice a few very small holes can be seen, I have tried to show in images. One or two small holes in the fabric of the skirt, shown in extra images page.

Under the bodice part is yellow felt used as padding, the gown is a little grubby. The cape is the same fabric that many of these characters were given. A few very minor rust spots can be seen on cape.

She has an attractive large beaded necklace, the owner said she had always had it and thought it suited her, so I will leave that to the new owner to decide what to do with it. She does seem to suit it!

The head/face paint is all good, see images.

She wears a headdress which has the wear the same as the outfit, nothing bad just some age related fading and there is no flimsy veil piece attached, so I expect this has been lost over the years.

She has white and black painted shoes with some wear, later ones will have all black shoes and earlier types may have all white shoes as I understand it.

Composition hands with some rust to screw eyes on one side.

Restrung on control.

Box is unstamped and in good used condition.
