TYPE VENT CARROT TOP
'Carrot Top' is a very rare Pelham Puppet.
Carrot Top measures approx 18".
His clothes are very good. The wool cap is good.
He wears a yellow neckscarf which is tied around his neck. He then has a green striped outer top which has sleeves and is good but crumpled from long storage. Underneath he wears a blue top which is stitched in part to the checked trousers.
The tweed blazer is over this. The wool beret sits on his orange hair.
He has some general wear and tear to the forehead where the hair needs reglueing with a hide glue or pearl glue maybe.
The outer shirt has come away from the trousers, I think they should be stitched all the way around the waistband. The stitching on the clothes may have had some repairs as there are some coloured threads, but these may be original too.
The eyes open and close using threads with a brass ring attached. I have sold a Carrot Top before where the string went up through the head, but neither of these go through the head.
One string opens his eyes the other string closes them.
The mouth is operated using the finger only.
It is rare to find this puppet at all but to find it with the original box is a bonus.
Please view images carefully for condition of the moulded head and hands.
Also I am not familiar with this puppet and would like the buyer to be content with their purchase, so please examine photos and ask for any other views you may need.
Other characters were Renaldo the Fox, Golo the Giant and Marguerite, all extremely rare.
